Christmas 2010

This Christmas I was really in the Christmas spirit and did quite a bit of decorating.  Christmas is a such a wonderful time and a great opportunity to spend time with family.

Here is our big tree:

I didn't get a good picture of this, but it is the pass through between the kitchen and living room.  I put out all of my snow globes and hung ssnowflakes from the ceiling.

Christmas Eve (12-24-10)

On Christmas Eve my family comes over and we have a traditional German dinner: Sausage, Sauerkraut and a baked noodle dish.  It is one of my favorite meals.  It's also really simple to make, so I don't mind being the hostess.  The boys get to play and open presents.

When everybody left we put hay out for Santa's Reindeer- they get hungry too and I don't think Santa shares his cookies with them.  So Gavin put out some hay for them.

Then he decided that our polar bears also needed some hay.

I had very good intentions of making cookies with Gavin this year, but I never got around to it, so I am glad that we had some super yummy sandtarts that a good friend Meredith made.

St Nick (12-6-10)

So the morning after we went to St. Nick, he left Gavin some treats for being a good boy.

A Thomas Christmas book, a new Mickey Mouse video with Mickey Mote, and a truck and trailer.

This is the same sock I used for St. Nick.  It is actually one of my dad's socks from an old softball uniform.  It's a great sock because it's really big so St. Nick has lots of room for treats.

Breakfast with Sanat (12-4-10)

One of our favorite family traditions is breakfast with Santa down in Divine.  Usually Frank, Tina and Owen come as well as the Mason family.  It is a really cute place and the Santa there is awesome!

Gavin was not scared of Santa, because we talked about it for months before.  He told Santa that he wanted a hippy hop and a scooter.

It really is so fun and I look forward to doing it every year.  Now if I could just remember to take a family picture!

Visit to St. Nick (12-5-10)

The musem in Ne Braunfels has St. Nick come and visit the kids.  They teach them the prayer that St. Nick asks them.  St. Nick is not like Santa- he is not a jolly ol' soul.  I thought that Gavin might be afraid of him with his hood on, but he did just fine.
